South-East Europe’s Next Leap Forward in Bucharest: Romania Government Roundtable 2026

For three days, Bucharest became the meeting point for some of the most relevant voices shaping South-East Europe.

Romania Government Roundtable 2026 featured more than 90 speakers across 25+ sessions, hosted at the Romanian Athenaeum and the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel.

Organised under The Economist Impact brand by Hazlis & Rivas, official and exclusive representative of The Economist Impact in SE Europe, in partnership with RCI Holding, the event convened a broad range of perspectives — from public sector leadership and government decision-making to economic expertise and business leadership.

The stage hosted heads of state and government, current and former prime ministers, central bank governors, ministers, ambassadors and representatives of European institutions, alongside corporate leaders and international experts.

Among them were Romania’s President and the Prime Minister, senior officials from Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Greece, as well as Daron Acemoglu, Nobel Prize laureate in Economic Sciences, and Enrico Letta, former Prime Minister of Italy.

This year’s edition drew strong interest from both public institutions and the private sector, at a time when regional dialogue platforms are becoming increasingly relevant.

“Romania Government Roundtable reflects the growing interest in regional dialogue and the need to bring public and private sector leaders together. The Economist once again brought together distinguished personalities from Romania, Europe and the United States to share valuable insights through a unique platform for open and meaningful dialogue. In an increasingly complex environment, platforms like this are essential for connecting different perspectives and supporting meaningful dialogue at a regional level, while also highlighting Romania’s role in this part of Europe,” says Chara Dina, Senior Director, Events and Operations, Economist Impact SE Europe.

The event was supported by a broad network of partners and sponsors, alongside media partners including OMA Vision, HotNews, Prima TV and RFI.

For Hexagon X, this project marks the continuation of a five-year partnership with Hazlis & Rivas.

“Beyond the operational aspects, projects like this matter because they strengthen dialogue between government, public policy and the business community, while also supporting Romania’s increasingly visible role in South-East Europe, alongside partners such as the Republic of Moldova and Greece.

From an industry perspective, they also come with their own challenges — a large number of speakers and a dense agenda — and our role is to ensure the framework that allows these conversations to unfold smoothly,” says Raluca Ioniță, Managing Partner, Hexagon X.

Romania Government Roundtable is part of the series of events developed by Hazlis & Rivas under The Economist Impact brand in South-East Europe.
