Ana-Maria Diceanu, founder & CEO Brain 4 Strategy and host of Brain it Forward podcast talks in this episode with Samantha Grocutt, founder Essence PR (Hair, Beauty and Lifestyle PR consultancy based in London). This interview is the first in a series of four interviews with PR professionals from 4 continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, America, interviews meant to celebrate World PR Day (16th July).

Sam shared her journey into PR, stressing the importance of networking and selling in the field. She also discussed the changing landscape of PR and media in the UK, particularly in the beauty sector, and her agency's approach to influencer gifting. Sam reflected on her experience starting and running a business, admitting that she did not have a clear plan and relied on intuition. She emphasized the value of investing in a business coach and finding a balance between work and personal life.

Sam and Ana discussed the multifaceted nature of the PR industry, highlighting the various roles and responsibilities that PR professionals must take on. They discussed the challenges of adapting to new technologies and delivering results with smaller budgets, as well as the importance of building relationships in a remote work environment. Despite these challenges, they remained optimistic about the growth and development of the industry, while acknowledging the need for greater recognition and compensation for PR professionals.
