Cu toate că este unul dintre primele lucruri fundamentale pe care le aflăm de mici, de fiecare dată când ne împiedicăm de câte o dovadă că lumea e nedreaptă, ne mirăm ca și cum nu ne-ar veni să credem că e nedreaptă tocmai cu noi, ne enervăm și ridicăm mental mâinile în aer. Unii specialiști în suflet și emoții spun că o soluție în combaterea furiei chiar asta ar fi: să ne amintim că lumea nu e dreaptă și că universul nu are ceva în mod special cu noi, ci pur și simplu își vede netulburat de ale lui.
Alți oameni de bine cred, însă, că ar trebui lucrat la faza asta cu lumea nedreaptă și să încercăm să o facem mai dreaptă dacă tot suntem aici. Înainte, trebuie să trecem de un nivel esențial: să cunoaștem datele lumii în care trăim și să înțelegem unde ne aflăm. Dacă exercițiul ni se pare copleșitor, putem recurge la un experiment simplu: planeta locuită de 100 de oameni. Nu e motiv de panică, după cum se vede: lumea nu se află într-o stare atât de îngrozitoare pe cât ni se pare. Dovadă: am găsit economiști optimiști. Argumentele lor, mai jos:
