A log kept by members of a consumer panel to record their viewing, listening, purchase, consumption, or whatever is being measured. For TV audience measurement, diary-based research was the forerunner to peoplemeters, which are now in use in all developed markets and, increasingly, developing markets (see Peoplemeters).
