Romanian talent reaches one of the most vibrant events of the year as the upcoming immersive line-up of pioneering artist Ioana Mischie is invited to be part of the Cannes Immersive Market 2025. The program will mainly connect immersive pioneers from around the world with museum curators, cultural venue directors, and theme park programmers, representing a new market format. This year’s focus will be on the future of location-based entertainment (LBE), as shaped by coordinator Mathieu Gayet.
“The Immersive Market is the natural extension of the Immersive Competition launched last year and illustrated our ongoing ambition to develop innovation at Cannes.”, Guillaume Esmiol, Executive Director of the Marché du Film.
Building on the success of the Festival de Cannes’ Immersive Competition launched in 2024 (that included “Human Violins Prelude”, the poetic Romanian-French VR experience written and directed by Ioana Mischie), the Marché du Film initiated this year Cannes Immersive Market, designed to spotlight the latest advancements in immersive art. The program will take place aboard the Art Explora, the world’s largest catamaran, reuniting audio-visual trendsetters from around the world. Apart of pitching sessions and one-to-one meetings, the event will also showcase Immersive Spotlights, a collection of inspirational talks.
After signing some of the most internationally selected and awarded immersive works emerging from Romania (“Human Violins: Prelude”, “Tangible Utopias: Urban Futurism”, “DreamNA: The Afterlife”), along with unconventional films, Ioana Mischie on behalf of Storyscapes Association has in development a line-up of transformative LBE stories, including both transmedia extensions of successful projects (“the Atlas of Tangible Utopias”, “DreamNA”) and new storyworlds in various stages of development.
“We are honored to be selected as producers of innovative stories compatible with LBE iconic landmarks. It is a giant national milestone for us as a creative group and for us as a nation to be present and active in this realm, as we have the rare opportunity to scale up globally meaningful stories that we deeply believe in.” mentioned Ioana Mischie, on behalf of transmedia-driven association Storyscapes.
While seamlessly blending high concepts, high end visuals and high end technologies, the body of work of the artist is considered to be groundbreaking, aiming to advance story grammars and make them impactful both locally and globally.
